The historical area of Coyote Flats is located a half hour’s drive northeast of Lethbridge. This area, covering the towns and villages of Picture Butte, Turin, Shaughnessy, Barhill, and Iron Springs, is a testament to the rich history and vibrant culture of Southern Alberta.

The main attraction of Coyote Flats is the Coyote Flats Pioneer Village, a museum that transports visitors back in time. Operated by the Prairie Tractor and Engine Museum Society, the village is home to 15 historical buildings that once dotted Southern Alberta. Each building is filled with artifacts and stories that paint a vivid picture of the region’s early settlers. Visitors can walk the streets of the village, immersing themselves in the activities that their ancestors participated in. From inventors and collectors to pioneers and bootleggers, the village showcases the people who shaped Southern Alberta’s rich history. In addition to the historical buildings, the village boasts an expansive collection of tractors, a testament to Alberta’s agricultural development. Just a stone’s throw away from the village, you’ll find the Coyote Flats Charolais Ltd., a family-run operation that runs 300 purebred Charolais cows.
