The hamlet of Jenner lies on Secondary Highways 555 and 884, approximately 100 kilometres northwest of Medicine Hat. This former village was named for Dr. Edward Jenner (1749-1823), the British physician who developed the smallpox vaccine in 1796. Perhaps coincidentally, area homesteaders Bill and Archie Stallworthy came from Dr. Jenner’s hometown of Cirencester, Gloucestershire. The Websdale Post Office, named for postmaster A.E. Websdale in 1911, relocated to Jenner in 1913 and was renamed.

Jenner has two nearby cemeteries, the Jenner Cemetery and the Jenner Old Cemetery.
