Born in Clinton, Ontario as Sarah Isabella Acheson, known as Sadie, her father was Alexander Acheson and her mother was Sarah Bradin Miller. She moved with the family to Winnipeg, then south to farmland in Rosenfeld, Manitoba.
Emil Joseph “Rusey” Weber
There she married Joseph “Rusey” Weber, a charming young man originally from Alsace, France. They had three children in Rosenfeld, three in Winnipeg, then moved west and had two more in Calgary.
During the First World War, it was difficult to find work for anyone with a foreign-sounding name, and Weber sounded “German”. Rusey tried his hand at running a painting business but few would hire him. Sadie, always the practical one, decided the easiest solution was to just change their surname, adding an extra “b” inside and becoming very English. The last five children had Webber on their birth records.
Sadie suffered from poor health later in life and passed away in 1953 at age 73 years.
