Doctor Kerby was born in 1860 and died in 1944. He graduated from Victoria, University of Toronto and came to Alberta in 1903. He was prominent in the building of the Central United church in 1913 and in the founding of Mount Royal College in Calgary, Alberta in 1912. He was principal of Mount Royal church for eight years. A good public speaker, he took time to write two books: 'The Broken Trail' and 'Keep a Grip on Harry'.
Two special services will be held In Central United church Sunday. At 11 a.m. the congregation will gather In memory of Dr. George W. Kerby under whose leadership the present Central United Church building was erected and who for 43 years has been a faithful and devoted member of the congregation. The minister's sermon subject will be "The Uplifting Influence." This service will be broadcast over CFCN.
