Village of Cremona
Cremona is a village in southern Alberta, Canada. It is located north of Cochrane and west of Carstairs, along the Cowboy Trail (Highway 22). Cremona was named after Cremona Italy, home of the Stradivarius Violins. The Cremona School is part of the Chinook’s Edge School Division and includes Grades ECS through 12. The School Library has a vast array of programming opportunities, as well as being home to a full-time operating Community Engagement Site. The village is home to a fascinating museum with a wealth of history and many photos and artifacts from the past. Cremona Emergency Services are led by an active volunteer fire department. In terms of industry, Aurora Cannabis operates a medical marijuana growing and processing facility in Cremona. Notable people from Cremona include Country singer Blake Reid and Calgary Flames draft pick J.D. Watt. Cremona Community Cemetery
In addition to the relatively new Cremona Community Cemetery (established 2005), the Village of Cremona operates another older cemetery. This other cemetery was established in 1936 and is nearing capacity, hence the need for the newer cemetery. Interment options at the new Cremona Community Cemetery include traditional plots, cremation plots, and memorial wall markers. As of August 2022, Cremona Community Cemetery had 71 interments.
