Aldersyde is a hamlet 100 km south of Calgary on Highway 2. The alder bushes along the coulee inspired the name chosen by J.D. O’Neal when he donated the land for the townsite. The first church here began in 1902.
Trinity Mennonite cemetery is located on the NE quarter of Section 34 Township 19 Range 28 West of the 4th Meridian, 10 minutes southeast of Aldersyde. To reach the cemetery from Calgary, travel south on Highway 2. Just past Aldersyde, turn east on the signed road to the Mazeppa Gas Plant. Approximately 4 kms. along this road look for a grove of trees with a large house on your right. This house is a private residence but once was the Mount View Mennonite Church which dissolved in 1974. The cemetery is right behind the house, and the current owners of the house would be delighted to welcome you and show you the cemetery. The cemetery itself was established in the early 1900s and is still being used by the Trinity Mennonite Church of Calgary.
