St. John’s Lutheran Church & cemetery
An influx of German and Russian settlers came to the area from North and South Dakota. Most were Lutheran. In the early 1900’s, a two acre plot was purchased from Bill Gray’s quarter SE ¼ of 10/10/27/W4. They reserved the Southeast corner of the two acres for the gravesite. They built a large two story Eaton style home and small barn for the full time minister, Reverend Janzow. The first baptism was in 1903. In the years 1912-1913, 14 children were baptized. The graveyard was extended to a location 1 mile North and ½ mile East where the 7 year old Betty Obstrom was buried on land donated by Mr. E. Lang.
