The Orton Cemetery is a pioneer cemetery serving the community. The hamlet of Orton is located in southern Alberta, within the MD of Willow Creek No. 26, which was incorporated in 1954 and includes many hamlets, communities and rural areas

The district was settled by various groups of pioneers in the early 1900s. Among them was Josiah Orr, one of the earliest settlers in the Orton area. Orr arrived around 1901 and was a wheat farmer. He was also a Bishop in the LDS Church.

Some of the early burials include Frank N. Wood (1873–1905) and his wife Althera Derricott Tolley (1878–1933).

Given its early burials (starting in at least the first decade of the 1900s), Orton Cemetery is one of the physical records of the pioneer era in this region. It reflects settlement patterns. Many settlers coming from the United States such as the Wood family from Idaho.
